Leonard Peltier's Recent Assault and Continued Imprisonment
On January 23rd, AIM-West organized a protest and march to call attention to Leonard Peltier's recent assault and continued imprisonment. Lots of people took the time to join us despite only having 36 hours notice and a rainy, chilly day. We had a small rally at the new federal building before marching across UN Plaza, in front of City Hall and on to the old federal building where the office of Speaker of House Nanci Pelosi is located. A few members of our contingent went up to her office to demand an investigation into Leonard's assault and his long-overdue release from prison.
Bill Hackwell(hckwll@yahoo.com) took some absolutely beautiful pictures of the event. You can view some of these images on Indybay:

Our comrade ReZz (rezrez@rediffmail.com) also took pictures and helped get the word out to the media. He secured a place for us on the evening news on KPFA in Berkeley. You can hear the news report at the KPFA archives (the report on Peltier and our march starts about 27m45s into the program):

This is just the media that as been sent to us so far! We know there were other cameras and writers there, so please drop us a line and we will add a link from the AIM-West website (http://www.aimwest.info).
AIM-West would like to thank every single person that took the time and braved the rain to participate. Leonard needs every single one of us, just as we need him. Please continue writing letters, emails and making phone calls on his behalf.
(If you call or write to anyone in the prison system, you will need Leonard's prisoner number which is 89637-132.)
