Leonard Peltier Birthday at InterTribal Friendship House 2012

At Inter-Tribal Friendship House in Oakland, where the spirit of resistance to injustices is still strong, many people came to celebrate Leonard Peltier’s 68th birthday. People who came wanted to let him know his sacrifice away from our struggle, for land, honor treaties, and self-determination for the rights of Indian peoples is not forgotten! Some folks and their kids made birthday cards while there for all who came to sign, others left early after dinner and those that stayed are hard to the core…waiting for a piece of cake and ice cream! After drumming and singing honor songs into the night a telephone number to the White House, 202-456-1111 was announced, ask to be connected to the comment line at 202-456-1414, and leave a message to the President himself calling for Leonard’s immediate release. We pledge to continue the fight for Leonard’s freedom. We realize that today we walk taller, straighter, and pray and think more clearly because of Leonard.
