"La Onda Bajita" with "Across Indian land"

For the peoples in the greater bay area this weekend’s Mother’s Day May 14th can best be spent at the 46th Annual Stanford University Pow-wow, Friday, Saturday and SUNDAY, May 12-14, 2017! That’s the word tonight on “La Onda Bajita” Chicano/Indio Low Rider show in Berkeley 94.1 fm (8-10 pm). The half-hour segment of “Across Indian Land” with your host Tony Gonzales starts at 8:30-9 pm!

Tonight in the studio Ms. Angel Hart, media coordinator with Sacred Sites Protection and Rights of Indigenous Tribes (SSPRIT) based in Vallejo, talks to us about Napa High School District is considering removing its mascot/caricature of an Indian person with a long history to the district, namely alumni’s! Ms. Isabela Zizi, bay area youth organizer, of SF NO DAPL!, Idle No More! I’m Not Your Mascot, to name a few joins us by telephone from Stanford Powwow to explain what led to the police having to come to Napa High School Board of Trustee’s meeting last Tuesday and how the women calmed things down!

The second half of tonight’s segment is an interview with Ms. Jean Roach, board of director with the new and re-organizied Leonard Peltier Defense/Offense International Office in Fargo, North Dakota. Jean provides us a background of activism and resistance and her commitment to social justice. Jean gives an update on the health and well-being of political prisoner Leonard Peltier and where help is needed at this time. Meanwhile friends are encouraged to go to the same website at www.whoisleonardpeltier.info
